Notes for Johann Filipovits III: From my own research, including several trips to Szentpeterfa, I couldn't originally determine the exact date of birth for Johann (or his parents' names).
According to the Szentpeterfa records, right at the appropriate period, several individuals named "Johann Filipovits" were born.
Detailed studies of the birth and marriage records of this era reveal at least 3 possible candidates.
One of these candidates may perhaps be eliminated by a citation in the 1831 marriage records from St. Kathrein. In these records, one "Johann Filipovits of Szentpeterfa, age 40, a widower" remarries. His parents are listed as "John and Anna".
Since Anna Kapitar, the wife of the specific "Johann Filipovits" for whom I am searching, apparently survived until 1841, the above mentioned marriage record seems to eliminate the Johann Filipovits born in 1791.
The two remaining candidates are:
1) Johann born 3/13/1787 to John and Anna (Milisits) Filipovits. 2) Johann born 12/15/1789 to George and Susan Filipovits.
Research into the Szentpeterfa death records shows that Johann #1 above died on 1/22/1846. He was a widow at the time of his death and was 59 years old.
Other research from the birth record of his sibling, Michael, confirms that this Johann was born in house #92.
Still more research indicates that the correct Johann, for which I am searching, had a son, named Nicholas, who was married while residing in house #92.
From all this info, I have determoned that my correct ancestor was the Johann Filipovits born on 3/13/1787.
