He married (1) SARAH S. SWAPP¹⁸²⁰² 11 May 1858 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio ¹⁸²⁰³. She was born 1834 ¹⁸²⁰⁴. He married (2) TALITHA ANN DAVENPORT¹⁸²⁰⁴ 05 Mar 1862 ¹⁸²⁰⁵. She died 1907 ¹⁸²⁰⁶. He married (3) NAOMI SWAPP 22 Jun 1865 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio ¹⁸²⁰⁷.

Notes for DR. CHARLES EDWIN BEARDSLEY:
He was born, with intuition and determination, to be a leader in all his undertakings. Honor, learing, and integrity were his guididngs stars. Orphaned at the age of nine, he developed into a self-made man. He lived with his sister, Mrs. Ramey.
He taught school at the age of sixteen years; managed a dry-goods store, at the age of eighteen, and owned and operated a pharmacy at the age of twenty-one.
Being associated with physicians, he determined to study medicine and surgery. He graduated from the University of Michigan, in the class of "63"; was assigned, assistant surgeon to Moses Gunn. Upon departure of Prof. Gunn to Ruah Medical College, he was offered the chair of Surgery.
He answered the patriotic call of Lincoln, and volunteered as a private; was taken from the ranks and placed in charge of a hospital at Cynthiana, Kentucky. He returned to Ottawa, Ohio, and after comlpeting his course in medicine, he established a large practice, and his success called him near and far. He took a second complete course a Bellevue, New York, graduating in 1870.
He was the first surgeon to flush the abdominal cavity with sterile water, to float out the contents of a ruptured, purelant cyst, with success.
He was the inventor of the first tablet machine which made tablets of an equal size, dose, and polished surfaces, all to replace the nauseous drugs.
He also invented a one cycle gas engine, and incorporated it in a buggy automobile to lighten the doctor's burden.
He was elected by the medical societies of Ohio, to represent them at the International Congress of Medicine, held at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1876.
