The Becka Duchin Levis/Ethel Margoles Goldsmith Home Page

My maternal family came from Chicos, Kiev, Russia. Their name was Duchin. The parents were Jochen Duchin and Chassi Warnoff. Their children were Hershel, Sarah, Becka, Rissel and Yenta. They came to the USA through Ellis Island and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. Becka married Meyer Levis, who is related to a family named Zimmerman. Meyer and Ida Zimmerman are the only ones I know. Becka had five children ...Eddie and Celia(twins), Ely, Riselle and Marion (my mother).
My paternal side came from two places. My father's father, Israel Goldsmith, was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. His name was Goldschmidt. His brothers were Henry and Ben. Israel and Henry settled in San Antonio, TX, while Ben we think ended up in South Africa.

My father's mother, Ethel Margoles Goldsmith, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of 7 children...Etta (Ethel), Ben (Manny), Sara, Nathan,Molly, Abe and Pearl (Tootsie). Nathan died in a gas explosion.

Ethel and Israel Goldsmith had one child...Clyde Ben Goldsmith
All who immigrated did so prior to the turn of the century of just right afterwards.
