* BOWDEN FAMILY HOME PAGE*

Updated September 6, 2000

I am researching the BOWDEN FAMILY from Hungerford, Texas. My great great grandfather Charles Bowden was born in 1845 in North Carolina. According to the Wharton County, Texas 1880 census, his parents are from North Carolina. Charles Bowden married Nancy Owens and through their union they had 15 children. Their names are Sarah, Robert, Hanibal, Briscoe, Caroline, Julia, Charles Jr., Will, Callie, Issac, James, Mattie, Utacia and Carlise. The mother and children were born and raised in Hungerford, Texas. Through my research it was revealed that there is a Bowden cemetary in Hungerford, Texas where a number of these children are buried.

I am trying to locate Charles Bowden's parents and any siblings he may have had. Charles Bowden and/or his parents may have been slaves while living in North Carolina. If you have any information on this family or any relative of this family, please contact me.

My research has shown that this is a process that involves putting all the pieces of a puzzle together. The key is finding the pieces. Thank you for your help. If I have information that can help you, I would be willing to share my findings.
