Notes for F
RANCIS LITTLEFIELD:
IN THIS LITTLEFIELD GENEALOGY WHERE "LFNL" IS QUOTED AS A SOURCE, IT REFERS TO THE LITTLEFIELD FAMILY NEWSLETTER, PUBLISHED BY CHARLES L. SEAMAN, PO BOX 817, OGUNQUIT, ME. 03807-0817, TEL: 207-646-3753. CHARLES HAS AN ASTONISHING AMOUNT OF RECORDS ON LITTLEFIELDS.

Littlefield Family Newsletter by Dorothy Keyes and Charles Seaman, 1991, Vol 1, pg 1-2:
Francis Littlefield was b. c. 1565 and died in Titchfield, England. His parentage is unknown at this time, but it is interesting to note that he named two of his sons Nicholas. This fascinating aspect of naming
children after parents or forebears is suggestive. Francis m. (1) Mary _____ who died Oct. 29, 1605 in Titchfield; he m. (2) Annis Wigg, a widow with children named Elizabeth and Robert Wigg. She was buried July 5, 1619. Francis was a clothier and left a sizeable estate. His will is on record. He had seven children, the eldest being Ednumd, the progenitor of the Littlefields of Wells, Maine.

Littlefield Family Newsletter by Charles Littlefield Seaman, 1996, Vol 6 pg 26:
FRANCIS LITTLE FIELD, THE FATHER OF EDMUND

(will repeated here)
There are some interesting aspects of the Will and children of Francis. Why did he only leave Edmund 20s., and his other sons 30 pounds? Why did he name two of his children Nicholas? Why did he leave 6 d. to the cathedral church in Winchester? Possibly this was the area where he was born. Of particular intesest is that his son James had a son named William.
