Grandpa Kaherl was the son of George Greenleaf (Duke) Kaherl and Lydia Frances (Tibbetts) Kaherl. He was the husband of Jessie (Hammond) Kaherl. We called him Pa. Pa worked for many years at a grain supply company in Winthrop, Maine for one of his father's cousins. This was a boon to the family during the depression years. His job supplied foodstuff for his family and even the grain sacks were made of cotton with printed patterns, which were turned into blouses and dresses by the women in the family.
