*********Issac Jones Bible &Will
( Note - Marcus Thomas has put a scan of the original Bible on his web page at
www.geocities.com/claytonresearch )

For those interested in Jones, Clayton, Shaddix genealogy, below is the
important parts of the text of the will of Isaac Jones of Morgan Co., GA.
Also a listing of individuals in the Isaac Jones Bible.

The listed children match other documentation (e.g., the Isaac Jones Bible)
pretty well, with the unborn baby being Milley Jones (she was born the day
before old Isaac died), and one missing child, Patcey Jones who had died in
1819 at age 7. Note, Milly's maiden name is still unknown. I guess that she
is either a Willingham, Clayton, or Shaddix going on family connections, but
this is unproven.

Others listed are James Shaddix and John Shaddix. These are brothers. John
married Nancy Clayton who is thought to be a daughter of Robert Clayton.
The witness Isaac Clayton could be Isaac N. Clayton who was a sister to
Nancy Clayton ( I don't know his birth date, so I can't be sure about this.
Can anyone help?). The witness, Aaron Jones could be Aaron Francis Flourney
Jones (listed also as a child) or could be Aaron Jones b. 1778 in GA who is
thought to be the brother of Isaac.

I will also note that the Bible of Isaac Jones lists Isaac Shaddix who was a
son of the John Shaddix listed in the will below.

Info from Marcus Thomas:
In 1809, Robert Clayton can be found on the Tax List of Morgan County, Georgia on the same page as Isaac Jones and John Jones. See below:
The 1809 Tax List Morgan Co., GA lists
Page 14, Robert Clayton
Page 14, Isaac Jones
Page 14, John Jones
Page 18, Nathan Jones
Page 20, John Shaddox
Page 20, James Shaddox
Page 20, Thomas Clayton
This is consistent with what we already know about John and Isaac Jones. They were living adjacent to each other on Sugar Creek District 4. Isaac was on Lot 143 which he purchased on May 8, 1808. Robert Clayton appearing on the same page and in Morgan County is new information. This pretty much clinches the relationships. After 1809, he apparently moved to Jasper Co., GA where he is found in the 1820 Census. A good bet would be to look for his in-laws (whoever they are) down there.
We knew also that John Shaddix, Nathan Jones and Thomas Clayton were living in District 15 (lot 219). In September of 1809, Thomas and Milly Clayton were accepted into membership of Antioch Baptist Church in Godfrey. At this time, Aaron Jones, Isaac's brother was still in Wilkinson County, GA.
The 1810 Tax List for Morgan County lists:
Page 10, Aron Jones
Page 10, Isaac Jones
Page 10, John Jones
Page 16, Thomas Clay[ton]
Page 18, Nathan Jones
Page 20, John Shaddox
Isaac Jones's brother Aaron has moved from Wilkinson County to Morgan County and apparently lives near him in District 4 where Isaac and John live. Thomas Clayton, Nathan Jones, and John Shaddox are sharing Lot 219.
The 1811 Tax List for Morgan Co., GA lists:
Page 10, Isaac Jones
Page 10, John Jones
Page 18, Nathan Jones
Page 20, James Shaddix
Page 24, John Shaddix
Page 24, Thomas Clayton
By 1811, note Thomas Clayton's name is back to Clayton (The Clay is a mistake). Isaac and John Jones are still adjacent, Nathan, the Shadix brothers and Thomas Clayton appear to still be some miles away in District 15.
In 1812:
Page 10, Isaac Jones
Page 10, John Jones
Page 12, Thomas Clayton
Page 22, Nathan Jones
Page 22, James Shaddix
Page 22, John Shaddix

Page 40, Aron Jones
Page 40, Isaac Jones
Page 40, Nathan Jones
Page 40, James Shaddix
Page 40, William Shaddix
Page 172, John Shaddix
By this time, Thomas Clayton had moved, probably to Jasper or Putnam County. Isaac had moved closer to Nathan Jones and the Shaddix men. Apparently on Lot 220. John Jones remained in District 4.
In 1820:

Page 40, John Jones
Page 40, Nathan Jones
Page 40, Seaborn Jones
Page 40, James Shaddox
Page 42, John Shaddox
Page 42, Aaron Jones
Page 42, Amos Jones
By 1820, John Jones' son, Seaborn was living very near to Nathan, and Issac Jones. Aaron was nearby and an Amos Jones (unidentified) appears.
In 1822:
Page 54, Nathan Jones, Sr.
Page 54, James Shaddox
Page 56, Isaac Jones (He was deceased at this time, so this is probably an estate payment)
Page 56, Malindy Jones (This is Isaac's widow)
Page 56, Nathan Jones, Jr.
Page 128, William Shaddox
Nathan Jones, Jr. was born around 1790 in GA. He married Sarah Hunt in Morgan County in 1823.
In 1824:
Page 46, Nathan Jones, Jr.
The Seaborn Jones who appears for the first time in 1820 is the son of John Jones. He is listed in John's will. He is:
Seaborn Jones b. 1799 in Georgia d. 1881 Yalobusha Co., MS.
m. Eliza Unknown children:
William b. 1833 AL
John b. 1833 AL
Nancy b. 1835 AL
Andrew V. B. b. 1839 AL
Roseanna b. 1841 AL

W. H. Jones
Note that he had a daughter named "Malinda."
