I started getting interested in family history after buying a discounted copy of Family Tree Maker at TJMAXX in VT/NH.Back then I didn't realize just how addicting tracing my family's history could be.I'm hooked. I wish I'd have gotten interested in this BEFORE moving from the New Orleans area to Vermont. I have found information on one line of my grandfather's family going back to the mid-1600's on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain. In addition, I have several other lines in his family traced back to immigration from the Canary Islands to St Bernard Parish, LA in the late 1700's. I have never been to the Islenos Museum, but will be visiting this summer during my trip home. Surnames in my family tree: Serpas (Serpa, Zerpa) Kampitsis (Kambitsis) Alfonso Fettet Jochum Meade Fulton Armas Gonzales Jimines (Ximines) Esteves Gutierres (Gutierrez) Carbo Francisco Suarez Morales Sanchez Corales Molero Mendez Ruiz Padrona Truxillo Duque Ravelo Alayon Nunes (Nunez) Alamo Rodriguez Perez Acevedo Aguior Bermejo ....and more....I will alphabetise and list the rest soon.
