This Web site is a Celebration of our Family. Creating a visual legacy and preserving the story of my family's past and present has become very dear to my heart. I have collected a myriad of family photos that have given me a glimpse into my relatives past like no other family history source can. Preserving them for future generations to enjoy is my goal. I'm trying to gather as many family photos as I can and to document as many facts as possible. I think of each image as a story. In order to create a complete story around each photo, it's important to find out "who, what, when, where, why and how". Organizing, preserving and distributing family photos in a family of our size has been both challenging and rewarding. I've become a photo detective! With Aunt Aili's help, my quest for family information became much easier. As the oldest living Kangas relative, Aili has a wealth of information to share. It was a pleasant surprise to find that she's as enthusiastic about this project as I am. In fact, we've discovered that we're very similar in a lot of ways. We both love photography, we're both very sentimental and save just about everything....wedding announcements, cards, letters, thank you notes, and every photo we've ever taken or received. Family traditions create the "Ties that bind". Whether it be the annual Christmas Eve party or having goulash and red jello with whipped cream and bananas at birthday parties, family traditions are about what a family likes about itself and wants to continue. Capturing all those precious memories, whether it be on film or digitally, is one of my most favorite things to do. My camera goes everywhere I go....just in case. |
