Notes for Judson C. Wells: Judson got married at age 22. Bessie was 19. When he was married he listed his profession as a clerk. (If he was 22 his birth date would be 1857 not 1859 as it is recorded on his natualization papers.)
Judson entered the USA by rail from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, on 20 Oct 1887 at Vanceboro, ME.
In the 1900 census Judson's family lived at 24 Everett Street (this is a guess, the handwriting is very bad), Somerville. According to the census another family also lived at this address. The last name was Howbelt. There was a mother, age 45, and daugther, age 25. These people immigrated from Nova Scotia in 1891.
Judson's wife Elizabeth died on 10 Sep 1903. She was 43. At that time they lived at 12 Hillside Park, Somerville. According to Judson's Declaration of Intention (natualization papers), on 22 Aug 1917 Judson lived at 13 Pearl Street, Somerville.
Judson moved to Quincy and worked as a pressman for the Couch Telephone Company. His Petition for Naturalization was completed on 21 Aug 1924. At that time, Judson lived at 63 Holmes Street, Quincy.
It is interesting to note that on his Petition for Natuization, Judson declared that he had three children. They were: Ethel, b. 2 Jan 1882 in Darmuth, NS then living in Somerville, James, b. 27 Sep 1885 in Darmuth, NS then living in Waltham, and Robert, b. 27 Mar 1892 in Cambridge, then living in Somerville. He was almost 65 when he completed these papers. At this time, Clyde was living with his family in Waltham.
Judson was remarried to Addie M. Wilson. They were living at 112 Sagamore Street, Quincy when he died. According to his death certificate, Judson, at eighty worked on 6 Jan 1939 and died nine days later.
The naturalization papers list both of Judson's parents as being born in Nova Scotia.
He is buried with his wife at the Woodlawn Cemetery (#1687 Queria Path, Laurel Hill) in Everett, MA. The grave site was visited on 3 Sep 1994. There is no marker, however, next to the grave site was a grave of Francis Jolley (1835-1903) and Sarah J. Wells (1844-1923). Perhapes there is a connection to Sarah...
