John McCombs, the eldest son, was born April 26th, 1792 in "old" Bennington, Vermont. John was only 3 years old when his parents (Timothy & Sally) brought him to Brockville (Elizabethtown), near Kingston. Timothy McCombs (John's father), moved from Oswegachie near Elizabethtown (present day Brockville) in 1811 and had 11 children. John & Magdalene McCombs (nee Lutz) had 13 children. John McCombs is buried in the McCombs Family Cemetery in Woodgale Park, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
