From "Pennsylvania German Pioneers", Strassburger & Hinke, two Vol, Genealogical Publishing Co, Baltimore, 1980. Vol I, 1727-1775, pages 212-215: Lists 55a, 55b, and 55c. "Palatines imported in the ship ROBERT and ALICE, of Dublin, Walter Goodman, Master, from Rotterdam, but last from Dover in England. Qualified the 11th day of September 1738. ('Qualification' consisted of a medical inspection on board ship, passenger lists, and oaths of allegiance, normally occuring within a day or two of arrival)
List 55a(written by ships captain): PEITER BUFFELL
List 55b(signed by individual): PAUL (O) BEIFLE
List 55c(signed by individual): PAULUS (O) BUFFEL
Note: The (O) in Paul Beefle's name was "his mark", indicating that he couldn't write, as was the case with many immigrants. The reason for the different spellings was that three different persons wrote the name while Paulus made his mark.

Ramsey, Univ. of NC Press, Chapel Hill, which quotes Minutes of Rowan Co Court of Pleas and Quarterly Sessions, 1753-1869,....In 1755 the court ordered "that Henry Horah have and receive for his trouble with a certain sick man for whom he had provided meat, drink, and lodging the sum of three pounds proclamation money, and likewise Paul Beefle the sum of one pound five shillings like money, and also Peter Arrand......"

On 10 Aug. 1762 he bought from Lord Granville's agents 304 acres adjoining George Bruner on the 'Third Jumping Run' and 'Grants Creek' (Strassburger and Hinkle, Pennsylvania German Pioneers, Vol. II : 212, 213, 215). He was naturalized on 13 July 1763 at the same time as John Barnet Stagner (Rowan County Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, II :468). His will, written when he was aged and infirm, is recorded in Rowan County Will Book A: 240, dated 15 Dec. 1764. His oldest son was Adam Beefle. His wife, Catharine Appolini, died prior to 6 Aug. 1791 when Christian Eller, administrator, settled her estate.
