The Ronald P. Kanarr Family History Home Page
The Kanarr name came from a family named Knerr or Knoerr who originally came from Switzerland, migrated to Alsace, then in France (but at other times in Germany), and in 1741 Abraham Knerr and his wife came to Pennsylvania, settling in the part of Northampton County that would become Lehigh County. There the family grew and flourished until in 1807 Andreas Knerr with his wife Mary Salome Musick moved over the mountains to Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. In 1852, Andreas' son, John Knerr, moved with his family to Indiana County, Pennsylvania, where I was born almost 100 years later. My parents moved to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania when I was about 4 and I grew up and went to school within 6 or 7 miles from where my ancestors Andreas and John Knerr lived. Names I am actively researching associated with my branch of the Kanarr/Knerr family are: |
