Welcome to the Kaplan/Metter Family Tree. Our tree includes in-laws of the Kaplan/Metter Family from the former USSR.
The Kaplan-Metter cousins came from a town sounding like "Kozlovitz" (as Uncle Benny described it) which is now located in Belarus, near Minsk which was once in Russia. The spelling could be Koszylowce and I am trying to locate the exact spelling as of this date. I have registered in the JewishGen Family Finder site and hopefully I can make a connection to our branch.
Ezra Kaplan immigrated to New Haven, CT in 1902, his wife Fanny Cohen Kaplan and their son Benjamin, age 2, immigrated in 1904. Fanny died in 1922 at age 49 and is buried in New Haven, CT. Ezra died in 1924 in Toronto, Canada.

The Surname list: has every surname I have found so far. If you click on a name it will take you to:
The Index of Individuals: shows all entries in Surname Alphabetical order. At the beginning you will see just dates, no names. These are women whom I have no maiden names for or children that I cannot find a surname for. You can click on these to see who the woman (or child) is or was, and the relationships I have for them. If you see a picture of a camera that means I have attached a photo, I may also have a written memory for deceased relatives that you can read.**
The Interne Tree: I finally figured out how to use this. Click on Interne Tree, click: search, click: find person, you will see a list of every name I have, example: click on Kaplan, Norman Jack, click: OK. Now! you will see Norman's Family Tree, if you right click on Lax, June Evelyn, make her the Primary Individual you will see her branch of the Tree. In other words, by right clicking on any name, then clicking on Primary Individual, you can literally go from one branch to another.

If you want to get to the Metter branch, simply right click on Ezra Kaplan, make him the Primary Individual then you will see his children and their families. Right click on Molly Metter, make her the Primary Individual, and you can then reach the Hershel Metter branch of our Tree.. (this is the only way I know how to access the Metters on this particular InterneTree.)
