FAMILY TIES
Family ties are precious things
Woven through the years
Of memories, togetherness,
Laughter, love, and tears.

Family ties are cherished things
Forged in childhood days,
By love of parents deep and true,
And sweet, familiar ways.

Family ties are treasured things
And far though we may roam,
The tender bonds with those we love
Still pull our hearts toward home.

Over 100 descendants of Gaspar & Matilda Manoni joined together for a MANONI FAMILY REUNION on May 30, 1999 at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Schiller Park, Illinois. We were happy to see so many people, some of whom we had not visited with in many years, some we had never even met! The reunion was organized by Mary Kay (Manoni) Padleckas and Donna Karbach (daughter of Alba Manoni). Many other family members contributed to the success of the event, including Greg Garofalo and Monty Garofalo, who provided photographic expertise, Melinda Manoni, who prepared delicious home-baked goods for prizes, and John Manoni, who proved to be an excellent bingo game caller. Our eldest family member, Lena Manoni Puppilo Wachowiak (103), who resides in Santa Maria, California, also made a special video appearance, courtesy of Mary Kay!

We are grateful to the many family members who contributed geneological information to the Manoni Family Tree in the months prior to the reunion. This continues to be a “work in progress”, so please send any additions, corrections, new addresses and e-mails addresses, to Donna.

We enjoyed seeing everyone at the Reunion this year. We hope to gather everyone again some day, including the family members who could not attend this year. If there is any interest in helping organize another reunion, please contact Mary Kay or Donna. In the mean time, we wish you all good health and happiness in the millenium!

SALUTE E BUONA FORTUNA!

TIME

When as young children we laughed and wept, time crept.
When as youths we dreamed and talked, time walked.
When we became full-grown people, time ran.
When older still we daily grew, time flew.
Soon shall we find in traveling on, time gone.
