Notes for James Foster: James Foster is buried in the Foster Cemetery, located on Beauregard and Rockport Road. Several graves are marked with wooden markers. The cemetery is all grown up and not kept in good condition. James Foster's marker shows that he was born in 1817; however, the family bible states that he was born in 1814.
A sad note: The first time I visited the James Foster Cemetery was around 1971, with my aunt, Faye Jackson, and Hedrick Foster led us to the site. The next time was around 1991 with Bobbie Edwards, a friend from Vicksburg. The cemetery had been completely destroyed and cows were grazing where once a little overgrown cemetery was located and where my great great grandparents were laid to rest, along with some of their loved ones. Such a shame for someone to be so thoughtless.
