The Kaufmann Family:Information about Ludwig KAUFMANN
Ludwig KAUFMANN (b. Feb 01, 1820, d. Jul 31, 1867)
Notes for Ludwig KAUFMANN:
The name Kaufmann is recorded only once in the town of Waldeck from the 17th through 19th century (1600s through 1800s). On 31 July 1867, the "Verwalter" (German for administrator/inspector) of the convict and work station of Waldeck Castle dies. He was born on 1 Feb 1820 in Helsen, Germany. In the records he is listed as leaving behind three minor children (but no names are listed). There was no record of these three children in church books in Waldeck or Helsen.Lacking any other references, other than the US Census documents listing Wilhelm as being from Waldeck, it is my assumption that one of Ludwig's three children was Wilhelm Kaufmann, who would have been 14 in 1867.
