I have good news about our next family reunion which will be in Bedford, VA in 2003 in July or August so all the children can come. We will have another grave marking ceremony, this time for Henry Deardorff who, along with his father, Abraham, served as a wagonmaster in the Lancaster County Militia in the Revolutionary War. Henry was 17 when he joined the militia in 1778. He died in 1826 and we will honor him on the Deardorff farm where he still lies with about 30 others who lived on that farm since then. His wife, Susannah, who outlived him by four years is buried in Roanoke. She went to live with one of their six children. Henry was the grandson of Heinrich Deardorff, eldest son of Anthony and Christena, and Susannah was the grandaughter of Anthony Deardorff, fourth son of Anthony and Christena who came to America from Germany in 1729 from Swarzenau, between Heidelberg and Mannheim. So Henry and Susannah were second cousins!
