I have been researching the Keates family name for years now and have almost come to a dead end..

My Grandfather John Valentine Keates was an actor and had been in productions in Michigan, Adrian, Dearborn, Detroit,, and some in Canada,,in the years 1890 through 1897,, he was also on stage in New York City,,years 1900 until his death, approx. 1911 or so..no later. I have no idea when he died or where, or when my Grandmother Mary Dette Smith died or where. His last known address was from Pomton Lakes New Jersey, and my father stayed for a time at 778 8th Ave. New York City.
My Father Basil Courtney Keates and his brother Alfred Keates were put on the Kansas Orphan train in 1913, and were settled in My father in Fontana, and Alfred in Hope Kansas.
I do have names of my Grandfathers family from England, but would like to know more about my grandfather and Grandmother.
