* Stamper-Keck -Johnsen Family History*

Updated June 9, 2002

I have been doing research on the Stamper Family surname for about 25 years now. I have not found the parents of my Grandfather Campbell William Stamper yet. He show up first time in the 1850 Census Morgan County Kentucky. In the home of Jackson Stamper. His mother was Matilda Tutt he was born in April 12, 1832 according to his Civil War records .
I doubt that Jackson was his father as he is only 14 years older than Campbell according to Census record in 1850 Morgan County Kentucky. Also Campbell was 5 yars old when the marriage between Matilda Tutt and Jackson Stamper took place on Jan 1 1837 in Morgan County Ky marriage book.

The Keck Family History lore is Cary William Gregory that his parents died on the Trail of Tears. He was adopted by one of the soldiers and raised as White. He married a Cherokee girl named Phoebe Phelps in 1849 daughter of Lodric Phelps. She died and he married a creek Indian
lady named Alabama McCoy. They had several children. He died in 1899 in Oklahoma Indian Nation .

The Johnsen family came to this country from Norway in the late 1800 or early 1900.They are connected to the Dagstads in Norway.

I am willing to share information and family Photos.
