As decendants of John Keenan, born circa 1822 in Prussia, we are attempting to compile a more complete list of decendants, as well as discover the lineage of John himself.

Currently, we know that John left Prussia at approximately 9 years old, working on freighter ships for passage. He remained at sea into adulthood, and finally naturalized in the United States in 1853 in Tallahassee, Florida. John fathered one family with "Anna", which was nearly obliterated in an Indian raid in Montague County Texas in 1870. Only John and 3 children survived. He later married Cynthia Latham and fathered a second family. Casualties of the Indian raid, as well as various other family members are buried in the family cemetary located on the orginal homestead in Montague County, approx 3 1/2 miles s-w of Forestberg

If you are decendant from this line and are willing to share information on your branch of the family, we hope that you will contact us at the e-mail address posted. We hope that this website will aid our on-going research, and allow us to find information on John's lineage. We would allso like to have any information we can find on John's second family with Cynthia Lathem.
