I am attempting to gain information on a branch of the KEEVIL family that is not (yet) connected to the branch that Bradley Keevil has researched.Information that I have indicates that William Henry Keevil was born 21 October 1819 at St. Stephen's, Bristol, England. He emigrated to the US with Lavinia Gibson (aka Fannie or Frances), whom he married 16 November 1842 at St. Vincent DePaul, Baltimore. They had three children in Baltimore, Henry Gibson (called Gibson), Leonard William (called William L.) and Eleanor F. (called Nellie or Frances).
William Henry Keevil's parents are referred to as William (builder of Bristol) and Martha Seeley (of Shepton Mallet). They were married in 1799. William is reported to have died 8 June 1834.
Fragments indicate that William's grandparents were William (Kevil, b. abt. 1713) and Susanna Ashman (married 15 May 1738), and their son had sons named John (of Bath), James (of Bath, b. 1806, d.1886 Boulogne-sur-Mer), Noah (who drowned on the SS President), Job (who moved to Canada), and William.
I would like to get more information on these nebulous links, as well as any other Keevil history that is around. For interested parties I can e-mail pictures of the various Keevil Hat Company offices from the mid-to-late 1800's. If you're a Keevil you will enjoy the comments from the contemporary neighbors.
