Notes for William Uriah [Perdue] Perdieu:
      Henrico County records lists William Perdue, a French Huguenot, recieved a land patent of 240 acres on East side of Saponny Creek in 1744. William is recorded in 1732 and 1736 in "Virginia Colonial Abstracts". The area of William's 1744 patent was absorbed into Chesterfield County in 1749.
      Probate of William's will and estate was recorded on March ?, 1789 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. No copy of the written will can be found recorded. The probate record [poor condition] states that son, Francis is to receive all property upon death of his wife, Mary, provided he is still living and providing for her. Sons, Ezekiel, William, Richard, along with daughters, Je???ia Bayley and Sara Claye (?), have received their fare shares and been provided for.

John [Haile] Hale I and 97. Mary Fullerton. He married 103. Adara Dudley Abt. 1734 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Notes for Francis Hale:
      The will of Francis Haile, written 1775 Bedford Co, VA, recorded and probated 1780, names wife Adara; sons Richard, Stephen, Lewis; daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Ruth, Ushley, and Mourning. It reads as follows Bedford County, Virginia Will Book A, page 371: Dated 5 December, 1775. Lend unto my wife Adara Haile all my personal and real estate during her life and after her decease to be equally divided except two beds amongst my eight children as follows, Richard Haile, Stephen Haile, Lewis Haile, Elisabeth, Mary, Ruth, Ushely, Mourning. My son Lewis Haile shall have one bed that I made use of for my own lodging and my daughter Mary one good or next best bed with the furniture.
"Note this my will is they shall have an Equal Share of all besides such as Money or whatsoever else."
Executors: Stephen Haile and Lewis Haile.
If my son Richard does not take in his Bonds one for 75 pounds the other for 8 pounds by paying the money or other satisfaction my Executors is to take the matter and collect and distribute according to this my las will and Testament.
Witnesses: Jonathan Pratt, George Bowles, Barnabas Arther
Proven: 28 August 1780 by oaths of George Bowles and Barnabas Arthar. Executors: Stephen Haile. Security: Barnabas Arthur and James Ayres. Liberty being reserved the other Executor named in said Will to join in the probate when he shall think fit.

  Notes for Richard Hale:
      Richard Hale of Bedford Co. [Franklin in 1786] who died in 1784 had the following children: Sarah who married Elijah Hatcher, John who married Nancy Overstreet, Elizabeth, James, Martha, Richard, Francis and Powell. they left numerous descendants especially John who married Nancy Overstreet. Nancy Overstreet was the daughter of Thomas Overstreet, an Indian fighter. Thomas Overstreet died 26 Feb. 1792 and left the following children; John, Mary, William, Elizabeth and Nancy the wife of John Hale. (Ref: Roots in VA; Nathaniel Claiborne Hale, pg 11).
      Richard Hale, will probated June 1784, lists Wife Elizabeth, Children Sarah Hatcher, John, Elizabeth, James, Martha, Richard, Francis, Powell, Molly, Lewis. Widow Elizabeth could possibly have been the daughter of William Bourne. William Bournes will probated June 1836, Grayson Co., VA, two daughters, Elizabeth Hail and Frances Hale.   Notes for Lewis Hale:
      Soon after his marriage, he moved from what is now Franklin Co, VA, to the upper part of the New River Valley, and settled on Elk Creek, VA. He had a brother-in-law named John Walden. When Grayson County was formed in 1792, Lewis Hale was one of the first Magistrates of the court. Lewis is said to have been a Revolutionary War soldier. Lewis Hale's 6th son, Stephen, married Frances Bourne, daughter of William (b Aug 23, 1743) and Rosamond Jones (b Feb 14, 1750) Bourne.
      Lewis Haile of Bedford Co, VA, in 1773, bought 130 acres of land in Pittsylvania Co from Nathaniel Christain and Jean, his wife. In 1778, Lewis Hale and wife Mary sold Pittsylvania Co land. In 1779, Lewis and Mary Haill of Bedford County, VA, sold 200 acres in Henry County to Robert Cowan of Bedford County, VA. Ref: Henry County Deed Book 1 page 293. [Note: Henry Co., formed from Pittsylvania Co., 1777. Patrick Co. was formed from Henry Co., 1791.]

Notes for Rev. Jacob Watts:
      He was a Methodist Minister at the Mount Moriah Unitited Methodist Church, Whitehall, Virginia. Besides the marriages he performed in Albemarle, he performed 56 marriages from 1801 - 1816 in Orange County.
      A notation in his Bible reads "Jacob Watts, this book, bought from George Clifford at Ablemarle Barrax of the 47th Regiment, Price 24, November 1779." He is listed in the DAR papers of Mrs. Will Haney Harwood [Virginia Revolutionary Pension Applications, File #519600].
      His will was written on January 26, 1821 and probated August 27, 1821 at the quarterly court meeting of Orange County, Virginia [Will Bk. 5, 394 -395].
In his will he bequeath to daughter Agnst [Agnes] Huckstep his negro woman, Selee. He wanted his horse saddle, beds, furniture, writing desk and chests to be sold and added to the money already in his possession. He wanted his money and possessions to be divided equally among his children William, Mildred Bruce, John, David, Fielding, Mary Rodes, Elijah, and Nancy Austin. His daughter Frances Smith's five children by her first husband were to have one share in the division of the estate. He appointed his friend Charles Parrott as executor. Witnesses were John and Joab Early, and Willis Huckstep.
