The Combined Family Trees of Keena, Dodd & Related Branches

Updated March 16, 2007

Originally the reason for developing our family tree was to discover our family's roots; but now it is also to re-establish ties to members of our family, regardless of their surnames. Our family's origins come from: Curragh of County Kildare, Ireland; Brittany, France; Pomerania of Prussia, Germany; Scotland and Nottinghamshire, England. Upon entering the United States, the Keena family Immigrated from Ireland in 1833 and settled first in Buffalo, New York. During the mid 1860's they relocated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Soon afterwards a few migrated to Chicago, Illinois. Begining in the mid 1950's the Chicago Keenas eventually spread through-out the U.S. At present we are seeking the family members related to the Keenas who had remained in Milwaukee.
The quest does not end with family bearing only the Keena surname; but also Kusch, Toomey, Dillon, Howland, Cash, Wilde, Cullen, Even, Kuhn, Murphy... and a host of others. Our family is like a quilt, interwoven with many beautifully coloured threads; each adding to the design with life, warmth and artistry.
It has been said that a people, whether an individual, a family, a clan, even a nation that loses a sense of heritage is not only lost but will die away into obscurity. Let it not be said of us.
The Dodd family first settling in Virgina and the Carolinas migrated to Texas and then further west. From these branches we hope to connect to Evans, Hair, Cabaniss (who were Huguenots fleeing from pursecution in LaSalle, Gard, France), Hastings and yes, many more; too many to mention in this introduction.

The name Keena ranked 23717 out of 88799 (Top 27%) as a surname for males and females of all ages in the 1990 U.S. Census.
