The Keel Family Home Page

I am researching the KEEL family from Stewart County (Dover), TN. as well as from unknown counties of North Carolina. Nathaniel Keel was born ~1810 in North Carolina, he married Martha Hudson approx. 1827 and fathered 4 known children: John Coleman Keel b. 1841, Mary Jane Keel b. 1845, Robert Edward Keel b. 1847 and Samuel Keel b. 1850 all in Stewart Co. (Dover), TN.
I know that Nathaniel and Martha moved to Tennessee sometime in the early 1800's but do not know where in North Carolina they came from or who for sure their parents are; though it is suspected that the father of Nathaniel is a Samuel Keel.

In addition, I am researching information on John Schliessmann; probably born around 1920. He is my paternal grandfather though my grandparents were never married. He and my grandmother (Marjean Van Orman) were together in 1940 (the year my mother was born)in Flushing, NY before they were apparently separated by their parents. My mother never knew her father, infact only learned of him a few years ago.

Any information on either of these two families would be greatly appreciated. I will share any information I have as well.
