Hi! My dad and I were able to trace our lineage back to a Patrick Kehoe, who died in 1866, in Newark, NJ. He came from Wexford County, Ireland, and was here by the time his first son was born in 1834. He was born around 1800-1805. Patrick and his wife, Mary Ann Hopper, had eleven children:
William Kehoe b.1835;
Sarah Kehoe b.1835;
John Kehoe b.1836;
Eliza Kehoe b.1838
Nancy Kehoe b.1841
Thomas Kehoe b.1844;
Jane Kehoe b.1846;
Mary Kehoe b.1848;
Teresa Kehoe b. 1850;
Lucy Kehoe b.1856;
Edward Kehoe b. 1856

I am hoping that perhaps one of their descendants may have traced Patrick or Mary back a bit further. Patrick owned about $5100 worth of land in 1836; in 1860 it was valued at 2500. Since he had a decent sum of money for that time, Im hoping transaction records may exist somewhere, such as land purchases. According to New Jersey records, he may have given the land to Thomas. We'd Like to find out which town Patrick came from in Ireland, and more about his wife's lineage. One of his sons, John Kehoe of Union Township, Bergen County, New Jersey, fought in the civil war, and lost his right leg. He returned and he and his wife Sarah had about eleven kids as well. Some of their names were: Henry Kehoe, Margaret Kehoe, Sarah Kehoe, Jane Kehoe, William Kehoe, Laura Kehoe, and Alice Kehoe.
Patrick's wife, Mary, is descended from two old german or dutch lines, the Hopper Family and the Van Cleve or Van Cleaf family.
