Find Family

Most of my known ancestors arrived in the US starting about 1850, but we've now identified one strand that may have been here by the late 1700s or earlier, which seems terribly odd as they're part of neither ethnic groups nor time periods with which I'm familiar researching. Peter & Electa Smith Dingee had a farm in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, by the mid 1800s or so, but Electa apparently came from Broome County, New York, daughter of Calvin & Magdalena Springsteen Smith, and Peter possibly hailed from Delaware County. If you're familiar with any of these people, your input is welcome and much appreciated.

The majority of my family arrived in northeastern Pennsylvania (Lackawanna & Luzerne Counties) in the mid to late 1800s. Scranton was a thriving city at the forefront of modern industrialization and attracted thousands of immigrants. My ancestors came from Ireland (Butler, Cunningham, Farrell, Flynn, Ford, Hennigan, McClymer, Sample), England (Geraghty, Kingdom, Whitehouse), Alsace (Huss, Ritter, Trutmann, Wendling), and Baden-Wuerttemburg (Bischoff, Keisling, Kiessling, Rosenbauer).

Additional NEPA names that I'm researching include:

Bannister - Behlke - Bennie - Bruck - Caulson - Connerton - Craig - Cranston - Cunningham - Dingee - Dolan - Earley - Edwards - Farley - Farrell - Flynn - Fries - Gallagher - Gavin - Gicking - Glover - Grimes - Healey - Hines - Hoar - Hofmeister - Jones - Jordan - Kearney - Keeley - Kussman - Larkin - Manley - McAndrew - McDonald - McDonnell - McDowell - McGrail - McGuire - McNamara - Moore - Neu - Neureuter - Noone - Oeftering - O'Connell - O'Hara - O'Malley - Orr - Pendrak - Petrunic - Pobgee - Quinn - Reber - Renshaw - Richards - Richardson - Toben - Widmer

The FLORIOs and GAZZANEOs originally immigrated to Indiana/Illinois near the turn of the century, but then migrated to hills of western Pennsylvania, where they found many other Italian and Polish families living. Some of these names that I'm researching include:

Schilinski - McNatch - Mikhnevich - Mordas - Petrunic - Romeo - Santek - Visnich
Keisling-McClymer Sample-Kingdom Florio-Schilinski
