It is believed that this line of Keith's begins with George Keith (b. ca 1626) who arrived in America (transported) in 1666. He received 50 acres for the service of his wife, Dorothy (who was just then released from indenture to Luke Gardiner), and lived in St. Mary's, Calvert and Charles Counties, MD.
In 1721, a George Keith, presumably our immigrant ancestor, gave in deposition that he was then 96 years old. It is purported that he lived to age 111. In 1670 Court Leet papers of St. Mary's County, MD, a George Keith was listed as a leaseholder of land.
There is a record in "The Early Settlers of Maryland, An Index To Names of Immigrants Compiled from Records of Land Patents, 1633 - 1680, in the Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland" by Gust Skordas, has a George Keith as Transported in 1670 (Book 12, Folio 594) and a Dorothy Keith, Service 1674, wife of George of Calvert County (Book 18, Folio 175).
A William Keett (presumed to be Keith) a planter of St. Mary's, as recorded in other documents, and his wife Elizabeth, sold tracts of land called "Lower Poole", bordering "Tower Hill", and "Wadestones Enlargement" (originally of Zachariah Wade), 17 Dec 1686. Is this another son of George and Dorothy?
