!Betty Witherspoon of 2470 Riverlawn, Wichita, KS 67204, has a will dated June 12, 1840 an d a Codicil dated November 7, 1840. The will states John's land lies in Rutherford County, T N. John served in the war of 1812 and Betty has a partial payroll record from the Tennesse e state library and archives in Nashville, TN. A "Muster Roll" of a company of mounted riflem en commanded by Col. Newton Cannon in the service of the United States from the 26th of Septe mber 1813 to the 22nd of December 1813 lists John Witherspoon. A hand written sheet is all t hat is available.
