Welcome to the Kelly/Nelson Family Web Site. I am researching the names of Nelson, Dobb/Dobbs, Badman, Wilson, Cowley, Salthouse, Balshaw, and Parkinson families from my father's side of the family. On my mother's side of the family I am looking for Mayor, Birtwistle, Mercer, Aspden, Walmsley and Burke. Most of these family members originate in and around Lancashire Northwest of England, with a few originating in Ireland, Wales, and Somerset. I have been fortunate enough to find a web site that contains many of the ancestors I had already located, and one found on The Family Tree Maker web site took me all the way back to the year 1150.

On my husband's paternal side I am looking for connections to Maurice Kelly married to Abigail Shea in Dirreen Co. Kerry in 1867. Maurice and Abigail had about 10 children and lived on a farm in Caherciveen, Dingle Co. Kerry. Ireland. Maurice died young leaving the family bereft of funds. The eldest son Patrick Joseph Kelly came to the USA, around 1891, and when he was settled the rest of the family followed. They settled in Springfield, Massachusetts. Patrick Joseph Kelly married Brigid Sullivan in 1903, and they had 6 children. Brigid was from Anascaul, in Co. Kerry, and her parents were John Sullivan, and Mary Kennedy.

My husband's maternal grandparents Frances Augusta Badger and George Kramer married in Holyoke, MA, in 1901, and had 12 children. Frances Augusta Badger is descended from at least 4 of the original settlers of Newberry, Massachusetts including Giles Badger, Edmund Greenleaf, Stephen Swett, and John Merrill.

John Kramer and his wife Elizabeth came to the USA in 1854, and brought with them 3 daughters, Louise, Elizabeth, and Caroline. They settled in Connecticut and had two more children Theodore, and Emma, before moving to Holyoke, MA, and then Springfield, MA. The family originated in Michelbach, Obrhss, Hessen, Germany.
