Notes for George Saunders Brown:
George Brown was the oldest son of Alexander and Lucinda Brown. He was born in 1853 at their home in Suez Township where he grew to manhood. He received his education in local public Schools. He married Sophrinia Meek in 1872 & they established their home in Ohio Grove Township and lived there until they moved to Aledo, Illinois. They had 11 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. He was of a family that also had 11 children., all who grew to maturity but 1 little brother. 2 brothers Myron Shermon Robert Paul. 2 sisters Mary Marinda & Elizabeth Hughs preceded him in death. He was a very congenial jovial man with a very happy disposition. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends. He was very patient during his long years of suffering. He was a man who was highly respected as an honorable gentleman by all who knew him. I Patricia Colyer Kelley remember my grandmother Martha Brown Lyons telling me stories about her father George. She told me how Strick and proper he was, when it came to his daughters dating and how they had to sneak out to meet men when she was in her 20's. She also stated that he was a wonderful father, but when he requested something we didn't wait to be asked more then once, When he said something he meant it. My daughters loved to sit and talk to Martha (their great grandmother) and listen to he stories of her childhood. It made them stop and think that me and their father was not Strick at all. George must have taught his children something as his daughter Martha has been a wonderful mother and grandmother. Thank you grandma for all the love and devotion that you gave me, Mike & Debbie and for all the precious memories of my childhood that I shall never forget. And now that I am a grandmother I just hope I can be just half the grandmother that you were. I Love You
