Notes for Alexander Brown: Akexander was born in Muskimgdum County, Ohio June 23,1821 . He came to Mercer County and engaged in general farming among the early settlers in Ohio in 1836 at the age of 15. He drove oxen, hauled logs,and hogs along with other work until he started out for himself with only $10.00 in money a team wagon and harness. In 1852 he married Lucinda Saunders also from Ohio. They lived in a hewn log cabin in Suez Township. They had 10 children. By thrift and hard work Alexander accumulated property. He died in 1906, 1 year after his wife Lucinda died. He owned a thousand acres of land. Mr Alexander took much pleasure in telling Indian stories as he learned them from his grandfather Mr. John H. Brown, as stated in the original letter that was written in 1927 (see enclosed copy of original letter).
