| 1. James Thomas Kelly is the father of James McIntosh Kelly according to a decendant Robert Lee Kelly. However since I have not been able to verify this I am only including infomation on James Thomas Kelly in hopes that some one will be able to lead me to documents or something that will prove this relationship. James Thomas Kelly migrated to the U.S.through Baltimore, Md.from Cork Co., Ireland sometime between 1840-1850 or even later. His age at time is unknown. 2. James M. Kelly b. 1816 in Ky. (Boone Co.?). According to a 2nd cousin Maxine Thomlison he was supposed to have been enrolled in the Loustretter(Lostutter?)Schools in Switzerland Co., Ind. He married Mary Lavina Lostutter in 1836 and she gave birth to William Loustretter Kelly 12 Dec 1837. According to Robert Lee Kelly Mary died in 1841, possibly giving birth to another child who may have died also. James M. must have left his son William with Michael J. Manyx and Mary A Manyx who had came to U. S. A. in 1829 and established a school like they had in Irleand. William stayed with them for awhile it seems. William L. migrated to Bainbridge Twp., Schuyler Co., Ill. before 1849. James M. married Sara Icenogle March 1847 and they had 4 sons, Hiram R., Peter L., George, and James. Another person by the name of Sara is listed with the family in the 1860 Census record at age 21 making her two years younger than William L. She may have been the daughter of Henry Kelly and Sara Reamer Kelly, as they had a daughter exactly the same age with the name of Sara. Sara married John Lawler in Schuyler Co., Ill., and he died leaving her with two small children. William Joined the Union Army at Fort Schulyer in Illinois and served in the 82nd Reg. C0. G. I am trying to trace each of these people back further in time, and their decendants. The family today tries to get together every year at Industry, Ill., or Rushville, Ill. in June. There is an extensive list of names in the Index of people associated with the Kelly's. |
