| I am researching both my fathers and my mothers family. I have been very fortunate in having traced back prior to 1800. The family name is Wakeman. They were in Conneticut until at least 1848 when they were then found in Danville New York where in on September 30, 1848, my great great grandfather was born. My Grandmother,Lillian Case was born 1886 on a ship crossing the Atlantic, but her birth was recorded in Braidwood, Illinois where her family first settled. In 1880 the Wakeman family had moved to Illinois where my grandfather was born. I am also researching my mothers family. My great great grandfather Robert Allen was born in England. He married Sophia Shellhorn in Cuyahaga Falls, Ohio, Summit County August 2, 1846. Sophia was born September 2, 1828. I found this information in the 1860 census of Summit County, Ohio page 333. The Allens were my grandfathers side of her family. My grandmothers family name was McNabb. I believe my great, grandfather was Duncan McNabb Born in March 23, 1830 and died November 7, 1919. He married Elizabeth Couling born June 2, 1852 in Quelph, Ontario. She died November 1937. I hope someone will recognize some of these names. Would appreciate hereing from anyone that might have some information. The Allen and McNabbs were from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois. |
