I have been researching the Family History of my family and my wife's family for over 32 years. The families on the author's side include BLANCHARD, BRACKETT, BROWN, GOODMAN, KELLEY and KELLY. Others will be added later. The families on the author's wife's side include CARNEY, CLEMENT, CRANMER, DEAN, DENTON, ELLIS, HERRIMAN, JACQUES, LAMB, POLHEMIUS, ROCKWELL, ROSE, STOUT, VAN WYCK, VASSAR, WHEELOCK, WICKES (Weekes), and others will be added.
Regarding the Blanchard line which starts with Thomas Blanchard who came to America in 1639 aboard the "Jonathan", the family first settled in Charlestowne, Massachusetts, which is now part of Boston. The Blanchard name has given many useful citizens to our country. It has furnished devines, college presidents, publishers, inventors, and active and progressive men and women to nearly every State in the Union.
The Wheelock family came to America in 1637. Reverend Ralph Wheelock was the first public school teacher in America. The Wickes family came in 1635 and settled in Massachusetts and on Long Island, New York. Thomas Wickes of Huntington, Long Island is the ancestor of my wife. The Dean family came to America prior to 1760. More research will be done to determine a more accurate date. However, it is important to note that Major William Franklin Dean, MD who was my wife's great great grandfather was the doctor who delivered Thomas Alva Edison. Our family trees are full of individuals and families who made major contributions to our society. Stories regarding these individuals will be added over time. It is my wish that you find the following information interesting and informative.
