Find Family
The majority of my family information is from southern Indiana. In the counties of Jennings, Jefferson and Switzerland. A branch of the Zener's moved in the 1800's to Missouri, they settled in St. Clair and Henry Counties. As is true of most families members ended up all over the country.
My family tree has many branches, some very confusing as I am adopted. It was a family adoption, my birth father is the first cousin of my adopted mother. So my mothers maiden name and my birth name are the same. Confused yet? I did not know I was adopted until I was in my 30's but got to meet my birth parents and my 4 children had more than their fair share of grandparents.
In 2005 I finally found out for sure the maiden name of my birth grandmother Catherine Colvin. I am slowly adding information on this line and it is a large and complicated one. Including the Surnames, Colvin,Forsythe,Lightfoot,Wright, Minor, Waller and more.
The family has been involved in the military from way back starting with the Revolutionary War and continuing thru my oldest son Shawn who fought in the 1st Gulf War and my second son Travis who is currently serving in Iraq.
I am fortunate in that my great grandmother Geneva Ayers Stewart kept extensive records and pictures and I have them in our family file. If you are researching Ayers, Stewart and Zener or any surnames in my files I would be happy to help with any information I might have.
Recently I discovered that a number of my family members were involved in the founding of the Neil's Creek Anti Slavery Society in Jefferson County, Indiana. Historic Eleutherian College was connected with the Society, please check out the link to the College it is fascinating.
I did not think about the fact that I have not identified any of my children on this site, so in case you are interested, they are Shawn, Travis, Joel & Andrea Kell and their families. I presently have 11 grandchildren.
Of course this is a work in progress, I am learning all the time and discovering things that need correcting so please let me know if you find an error. I also love to meet new "cousins" so please contact me if you find a connection here.
