The first in southeast Nebraska was Johann, married to Elizabeth Schrag at O'Niell, Nebraska. They purchased a quarter section of land from the railroad and lived there the remainder of their lives. They were a Mennonite family originating in Switzerland, then France and Germany and coming to Nebraska by way of Lewis County, New York, and Wellesley, Ontario, Canada. |
