I am researching the Kennedy and Johnson branches of our family. We are currently looking for George Johnson and Mary Combs, African Americans. George came to Ohio from Virginia in the early 1900's and settled in the Cincinnati area.Mary was born circa 1894 somewhere in one of the areas around Cincinnati that is now Hamilton County, and George circa 1891 in or around Gloucester County. The Johnson Family was said to have owned land in the Chesapeake Bay area. George's mother's maiden name was Cook, her husband's name Godfrey Johnson, and she was supposed to have been one of the first Black graduates of Hampton University. The Johnsons sold the land in Virginia, and George came to the Cincinnati, Ohio area where he met Mary Combs, married, and eventually had 6 children. We are also researching other branches of our family, including the Waddell branch, which includes GeorgeAnn Waddell [born circa 1864 in Pulaski County Kentucky] and John S. Waddell [born circa 1862 in Wayne County Kentucky]. I have extensive information about the Owsley County Kentucky area that I am willing to share, as well as access to Clinton County Ohio records.
