I am researching the Nancy Dent family from Appling or Rosemont, Columbia County, Georgia. Some of the surnames in my family are as follows:
DENT, JOHNSON, AVERY, D'ANTIGNAC, MADDOX, MCCLADDIE, SMALLEY, DUNN, JONES, LAMKIN, RAINES, ROSS, STOKES, BOWDRY, and etc.

According to some of my findings, Nancy Dent was born about 1808 and was sold in Baldwin County through Zachariah Lamar on March 8, 1816 as part of her family for $1950 which was witnessed by John Rivers & James Lamkin. Her family consisted of Ben (m, 30), Peggy (f, 27), Sibi (f, 14), Nancy (f, 8), Abraham (m,5), and Ben (m, 18 mos.) She and Abraham were accounted by George Washington Dent on the 1820 census as people of color. She appeared in his will as being given to his daughter Elizabeth Harrison when it was probated in 1923. George Washington Dent passed away in 1829. No other Dents appear in the 1850 or 1860 census of Columbia County, GA. There is a record where she may have been sold again by Sheriff Livingston through Zachariah Lamar in 1828.
