My Genealogy Home Page

Updated October 24, 2004

It has taken me nearly twenty years to find the details of my Grandmother, Doris Edith Mordey as she was born. Over the last two years, with the aid of the Internet itís become possible to trace what has always been thought to be impossible.
I always thought that my Grandmother had never been registered or baptised, due to the fact that her Mother was not married to her Father at the time she was born, but happily my Great Grandfather did in fact register the birth and just kept the fact to himself, letting the family believe it had never been done.
My Great-Grandmother did actually marry, when Doris was a young girl. After this event, in 1901 my Grandmother changed her name to that of her new Stepfather and became 'D'Harty'.
Please enjoy the details of my search for my Grandmother
