Micajah Lewis Sharp died at Andersonville Prison, Macom, Georgia; cause of death exposure and bad treatment.

Comment: Andersonville Prison Camp was one of the worst prison camps of the Civil War. Anderson was located near Americaus, Georgia. It was a Confederate stockade for Union soldiers during the Civil War. Union soldiers suffered from starvation, overcrowding, and cruelty of the superintendent: about 13,000 prisioners died. The ration of food at Andersonville was a pint of course corn meal and a tablespoon of peas. Out of all the prisons camps in the north 220,000 were held in prisons and 26,436 died. In the south 126,950 were held in prisons and 22,576 died.

24. WILLIAM HENRY5 SHARP (MICAJAH (MACAGER)4, JOHN3, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born November 18, 1838 in Vandalia, Illinois, and died October 27, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. He married ELIZABETH E. (BETSY) ANDREWS December 28, 1862 in Vandalia, Illinois, daughter of JOHN ANDREWS and FRANCES SAWREY. She was born 1843 in Illinois, and died 1949 in Vandalia, Illinois.

William Henry was a farmer and later worked for the Central R.R.

He mostly lived in the Fayette County, Illinois area until around 1920 when we find him living with his daughter Ida Mae and son in-law Henry J. Burns on Clinton street in Ottawa, Illinois. Later they moved to Chicago, Illinois.

He died in Washington Park Hospital, Chicago, Illinois and was buried, in sec. 11, blk. 10, lot 6, Vandallia, Illinois, South Hill Cemetery.
At the time of death he resided at 315 West. Garfield Blvd. Chicago, Illinois.
