* ABEL KENDRICK, A Patriot of the Revolution*

Updated September 6, 2000

In little more than a decade after the MAYFLOWER landing, the first Kendricks arrived on American shores. The oldest known ancestor in my line of Kendricks is my gggg grandfather Abel Kendrick, b. March 14, 1759, in Hanover Co., VA.
When the Second Contintental Congress appointed George Washington to raise a Continental Army, Abel volunteered as young man of 20 in Union, SC. When he was discharged in 1782, the infant United States of America had taken its place among the nations of the world. Abel moved his family into GA about 1805.

During James Madison's 2nd term of office, Abel's son James entered Alabama Territory.

A book is nearing completion on this family's history in America and assistance is sought with continuing research for Abel's parents in VA and descendants of his children who moved from SC to GA.
