I am researching the Kessinger family genealogy and their Hart County Kentucky history starting in the late 1780's. The most senior Kessinger thus far established was Solomon, born 1737 in Germany, arriving in the USA about 1757 and in Hart County Kentucky about 1790. Solomon had many children, one of which was also named Solomon, born 1775, from whose branch I evolved. Solomon II remained in the Hart County area while many of his brothers and sisters migrated to central Illinois and elsewhere. Solomon II married Elizabeth Logsdon in 1793, fathered thirteen children, among which was a son named William Silas Kessinger, who is the subject of my current quest. William Silas, born 1820, married Lydia Ann Fenwick about 1840 and had several children during the 1840's who are fairly well documented. William Silas and Lydia also had children in the 1850's but little is known about the family after the 1850 census. It is believed that William Silas Kessinger died in 1860. |
