Some of the main surnames I am researching are: Birdsell, Campbell, Carlton, Emigh, Ogden, Mulford, Herron, Wilkerson, andmany more. My mother was raised in Wyoming and South Dakota and my father was raised in Illinois. My mother's people were movers and pioneers on that big quest for land and opportunities. She spent about 35 years doing research on her side. My father's people settled in three counties in Illinois, Scott, Greene, and Morgan, in the early 1800s and they stayed there for generations. Before coming to Illinois, most of them came from Tennessee and North Carolina. I am at a point now with both my mother's side and my father's side, that my research is centering in New England, with most of the families being in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. One of my ancestors on my mom's side, Martin Brobst, administered the citizenship oath to one of my ancestors on my father's side, George Hoppes. Little did they know that 200 years later, their families would be united. It seems amazing because one side took the high road, through Ohio and Indiana, while the other side took the low road, through North Carolina and Tennessee. Take a few minutes to check out the surnames I am researching and if you find any connections, please contact me at my e-mail address. I would be happy to share information with you. |
