____The Killian Family in Mississippi and Louisiana primarily descends from George Killian (1740-1830) who immigrated to The Natchez District from Burke Co., NC about 1783. The youngest son of Andreas Killian (1702-1788)'s first marriage, George served in the Burke County Militia which saw duty at Cowpens, King's Mountain, Ramsour's Mill and Yorktown during the Revolutionary War. He held two British Crown Land Grants and several claims near Morganton, Burke Co., NC. ____After immigrating to the Natchez District, George Killian achieved two Spanish Land Grants of 1000 acres east of Natchez, MS and later migrated to the Spanish West Florida Province in 1804, settling near Montpelier, St. Helena Ph., LA at Killian's Cross Road. He and his sons, Joseph and George, Jr. held 4000 acres of Spanish Land Grants. ____George and his wife Mary Ann raised a family of eight children. George Killian associated with many Revolutionary War Patriots and many of his children married sons and daughters of Patriots. ____While most of his family moved with him to St. Helena Ph., LA in 1804, one son, David, remained in Natchez. David's descendants migrated to Claiborne Co., MS about 1830 and later to Franklin Ph., LA about 1863, pioneering on the Bayou Macon at Killian's Ferry.
