Sometime between the years of 1850 and 1858, the family of James and Martha Catledge moved to Polk Co., Arkansas with their children. In about 1858, just a couple of months after their youngest son Thomas Overton Catledge was born, James and Martha passed away. No one knows how though. So, the kids started on their way back home. They carried little Thomas and walked all the way back to Winston County, Mississippi. A little more than 300 miles. In the 1860 Census, most of the younger children are living with their older brother Alson Asberry Catledge. This story is courtesy of Daymon Catlege.
