Notes for Alfred L. Bryant:
General Notes: Alfred "Al" L. Bryant
Alfred "Al" L. Bryant, age 90, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. He was born October 7, 1912 in Lisbon Center, IL, the son of Merrill and Fannie (Shaw) Bryant.
Al grew up in the Yorkville area and attended local schools. Following his schooling he worked on the family farm. He did some foundry work for a time but his livelihood was farming no matter where he hung his hat.
Alfred met his future wife through his sister and it wasn't too long before wedding bells began to chime. Al and Beatrice Nichols were united in marriage September 6, 1936 in the First Baptist Church in Aurora. They began their new life together in several cities, Al continuing to farm and Bea making each house a home. They found their way into the La Fox area in the early 1940's and eventually settled in Batavia. Al worked at the Wasco Nursery until his retirement, but even then he continued to work part-time, not willing to lay down his tools just yet.
Al's favorite hobby was work and though his hands were rough from work, his heart was full of love and tenderness towards his fellow man and especially his family. Never one to raise his voice, he was a patient teacher willing to spend countless hours helping his children learn the art of farming.
He leaves now his loving wife Beatrice of Batavia, his daughter Darleen Stewart of Batavia and son Bill Bryant of Serena, IL; granddaughter Kimberly Stewart and grandson Dirk (Ann) Stewart and their children Elizabeth, Amanda and Alexandria all of Batavia, grandson Brett Tyner and his son Mason of St. Charles, and granddaughter Teresa Tyner of Houston, TX. Many nieces, nephews and a community of friends.
He joins now his parents, his daughter Carol Tyner, four brothers, three sisters, two children in infancy and one grandson Rick Tyner.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Conley Funeral Home, 116 West Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Private cremation interment will follow at a later date.
Memorials may be made in his name and mailed to P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
