Jesse Solomon, aged 83 years, died at his home in Lumberville on Sunday evening, the 6th. Mr. Solomon was born in Plumstead. He was the son of Jesse E. and Elizabeth M. Solomon. The family comprised eleven children, all of whom departed this life previous to Mr. Solomon. At an early age he became a member of the Christian church at Carversville. He was for some time employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, but owing to ill health was compelled to retire. Mr. Solomon was for many years a sufferer from rheumatism, and during the last year had been afflicted with heart trouble. Mr. Solomon was married to Sallie LeFeyre, who died several years ago. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, among them are Mrs. S. J. Palmer, who during recent years bestowed much care upon him.

evening of July 8, 1863, that a force of 6,000 cavalry under
Morgan had crossed the Ohio River near Mauckport and was
moving on Corydon, a call was issued for citizens to organize
for defense.
Within 48 hours 65,000 men had tendered their services. From

were organized, the battalion being assigned to the 107th.
One Hundred and Fourth Infantry. -- Col., James Gavin, Lieut.-

This regiment consisted of six companies of minute men and
four of the Legion: Six companies were from Decatur County and
one each from Fayette, Madison, Marion and Rush Counties.
The regiment was organized at Greensburg, July 10, 1863, with
719 rank and file, and moved to Sunman's station, thence to
Lawrenceburg, and from there toward Harrison, Ohio. It
returned to Greensburg after Morgan's escape and was mustered
out July 18, 1865.

Mrs. Anna Solomon, wife of George Solomon, New Hope, died at her home Sunday afternoon, June 18. She had been in poor health for some time, but the immediate cause of death was a heart attack. Mrs. Solomon was a member of the M. E. Church and the ladies' aid of New hope, and the P. O. S. of A. of Lambertville, N. J. She was 78 years old, and is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Helen Fisher, Phila.; Mrs. Nellie Cole, Trenton, and Mrs. Mabel Clark, Moorestown, N. J. and the grandchildren.
