Martin Killory (b. November 09, 1836, d. August 02, 1914)
Notes for Martin Killory:
Martin, Hanora and son John arrived in Fall River, MA on July 14, 1863 (Boat name unknown)(date taken from his naturalization papers)
They were married in Ireland and had three children there - Mary, Patrick and John.Baptismal records were found for Mary and Patrick in the Church in Ennistymon. There was no record of John nor ofMartin and Hanora's marriage.Mary and Patrick both died as infants and they are presumably buried in Ennistymon (no records or places found) and John came over with his parents.
They first settled in Fall River where Michael and Thomas were born.It is assumed that Martin worked in the mills in Fall River upon arrival. In 1869, they moved to Fairhaven where the rest of the children were born.At this time Martin worked at the Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford, MA.About 1887, the family moved to Weymouth, MA (Broad Street). It was understood that they moved by horse and wagon to their new home. Eventually they had three houses there. (Maybe they had their own compound). It is believed that all of the sons except George who became a Doctor, were shoemakers. The only living daughter, Margaret became a school teacher in a one room school in Hanson, MA.She had a short career, dying at the age of 29 from tuberculosis. They had a family burial plot in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Weymouth, MA.Up to 1995 there were 22 Killory's buried there - or 20 buried and Mary and Patrick (who died in Ireland) were remembered.
Martin died August 2, 1914 and Hanora died shortly thereafter on November 14, 1914.
Following are excerpts from local papers.

Mr. Killory was born in County Claire, Ireland, and when a young man came to this country and located in Fairhaven. He resided there for 25 years.Thirty five years ago he came to this town where he has since resided. He was a shoemaker by trade.

Burial was in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.John Killory, Thomas Killory, George Killory, Michael Killory, Martin Killory and Joseph Killory were pall-bearers.
Was a shoe worker and died from chronic interstitial nephritis cystitis, probable cancer of the liver at age 78.
Birth year could possibly be 1837
Couldn't find a photograph for him but Doris Killory (Martin's wife) (Martin would be the grandson of the original Martin), remembers seeing a photograph of him sitting at a form repairing shoes and that he was a small, short man with a burly mustache.
Doris remembered that hersister-in-law Margaret brought all the photographs that they had of the family up to James Killory (Martin's son) while he was in a nursing home in Brockton. They were never returned so it is presumed that when James died the Nursing homethrew the photos away.
