MR. JOHN KILLOURY, PARNELL STREET, ENNIS
Following Solemn Requiem Mass at the Pro Cathedral, Ennis on Thursday morning, the funeral of Mr. John Killoury, who collapsed and died at his residence, 83 Parnell Street, Ennis, on Tuesday, took place to the family burial ground at Kilmihil.
The later Mr. Killoury, who was a native of Kilmihil, was a member of a family which played a prominent part in the War of Independence.He was the brother of Rev. Fr. Hillary, O.F.M., Galway, and also of the late Comdt. Michael Killoury, who served with the old I.R.A in Clare.As a youth he served with the old I.R.A. in Mayo and later in the National Army.
Mr. Killoury carried on a business as a hotelier, draper and publican in Ennis. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Noreen Killoury; Nicholas, John, Vincent and Michael Killoury, sons, Rev. Father Hilary, O.F.M.; Cornelius and Thomas Killoury, brothers, Mrs. H. Masters, Mrs. D. Lewis (England), Mrs. J. Cleary (Kilmihil), Mrs. N. O'Dea (Carrigholt), Mrs. J. Mahon (U.S.A.), Miss Kitty Killoury (Madrid, Spain), and Miss Ita Killoury (Clonakilla), sisters.
Celebrant of the Requiem Mass on Thursday was Rev. Fr. Hillary, O.F.M., Galway, Master of Ceremonies was Rev. H. Kenny C.C., Ennis.In the choir were Very Rev. Fr. Jaelath, O.F.M., Guardian, Ennis; Rev. Fr. Bede, O.F.M., Rev. Fr. Edwin, O.F.M.; Rev. Fr. Marcellus, O.F.M., (all Galway); Rev. J. Hogan, St. Flannans College, Ennis and Rev.
